Candace Strauss
Board Member- Bozeman
After twenty years living in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem, Candace Strauss joined Yellowstone National Park Lodges, Xanterra Travel Collection in January 2026, where she oversees meetings and events for the largest operation in the NPS in the world's first national park. Previously, she served as the VP of Marketing & Communications for the Montana Chamber of Commerce, where she led strategic communications and statewide initiatives to elevate Montana’s business climate on the national and global stage. With more than two decades of experience in tourism, economic development, and nonprofit leadership, Candace has held President/CEO roles with the Big Sky Chamber (MT) | Visit Big Sky, and Sedona (AZ) Chamber & Tourism Bureau—two internationally known destinations where she championed sustainable tourism, destination stewardship, and cross-sector collaboration.
Her global perspective is grounded in an early career in national brand marketing and international destination strategy, beginning in Washington, D.C. She was part of the business development team at the Washington Redskins, but pivoted after being laid off following the 9/11 attacks. She joined Destination DC to help the organization lead the city’s recovery efforts and bring visitors back to the nation’s capital during a time of unprecedented challenge.
Candace later served on the U.S. Travel Association Board of Directors during the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to the tourism industry’s response and resilience in the face of another global crisis.
Her professional path has also included leadership roles with cultural and entertainment institutions such as the Houston Symphony and Feld Entertainment’s Disney on Ice and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, as well as time living and working abroad in Athens, Barcelona, and Copenhagen. These experiences have shaped her belief in the transformative power of culture, commerce, and international engagement.
A proud Montanan and passionate global citizen, Candace is honored to bring her perspective to the Montana World Affairs Council and help foster a deeper understanding of the interconnected world we share.
