On Thursday, April 5th, the Montana World Affairs Council presents a special program on global water issues. For several months, our Council in the Classroom program worked with 600 students who explored the Global Water Crisis. They produced videos, power points and other media that offered solutions and presented them to Lt. Governor Mike Cooney. This project was a catalyst to explore global water issues more deeply and this Distinguished Speaker Program will feature Dr. Hussein Amery, a Middle East water expert and a local panel of water experts including Dr. Nick Silver, a renowned hydrologist and water specialist who looks at climate and other factors and how they impact agriculture, water and food. Also joining our local panel is the renowned historian and University of Montana professor, Dr. Mehrdad Kia who will explore the politics and policy of water. Others TBA. The local panel will be chaired by MWAC President Emeritus, Robert Seidenschwarz.
The evening begins with a reception featuring Middle Eastern catered appetizers at 6pm and the program begins at 7pm. Members are free, students with valid i.d. are free and non-makers are $5/person. For more information, please contact us at 406.728..3328 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
