In preparation for this year’s Academic WorldQuest, the Montana World Affairs Council is encouraging students to participate in a statewide
Study-A-Thon! This program will help students prepare for the competition while providing community members the opportunity to show their support for competitive academic events.
How it works:
Students will seek sponsorship from community members; ask parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and neighbors. It can be anyone! Download the materials listed below to get started.
Sponsors will choose how much they would like to donate per hour of studying. (We suggest asking $10 an hour.)
Sponsors can also make a flat donation or choose to cap the amount of study time they want to sponsor. (We encourage students to pursue sponsorship for no more than 8 hours from each sponsor.) Say they want to give $50 at $10 a hour, they would be pledging five hours of studying. The best part is that pledges can and will overlap; for example. if you get ten sponsors at $10 an hour and study for three hours, that’s $300!
Since students will be raising money for the whole team, it is suggested that coaches pick a deadline for sponsors to be gathered by so that study hours can be divided up equally following that date.
Students! Don’t forget to…
