The
World Affairs Council of Montana helps you see over the far horizon
and better understand world affairs. We bring you first-hand information
by putting you in contact with local, national, and international leaders,
entrepreneurs, activists, scholars, and officials. We focus on issues
that are important to Montanans.
You
care about world affairs. You care about Montana and its future. Membership
allows you to support an organization that shares these same values. Membership
gives you access to:
- Montana
Foreign Policy Forum:
Brings you in-depth information about a current foreign policy issue,
such as the presidential elections and foreign policy, peace in the
Middle East, agricultural trade, and the global environment. In 2001, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian, spoke in Missoula.
- Community
Dialogue: Allows Montanans to interact with and question distinguished
speakers on various topics of world affairs. Past participants have
included U.S. Congressman Denny Rehberg of Montana, Palestine Authority Spokesman Michael Tarazi, as well as former CNN world affairs correspondent Ralph Begleiter, and several ambassadors.
- Luncheon
Discussion Series: Features international, national, and local distinguished
speakers from the Councils international network. Ambassador William
Harrop, former President of the American Academy of Diplomacy, served
as our last luncheon series guest.
- International
Travel Tours:
Participate in travel to fascinating destinations and experience other cultures through
Council travel programs. Ambassador Mark Johnson will lead an "Inside Egypt" trip from March 27-April 8, 2008. Check with the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia for details (wacphila.org)
- Councils
in the Schools: Support the Councils mission to involve young
people in world affairs by introducing an international curriculum,
bringing prominent speakers to the classroom, giving teachers access
to materials, scholarships, and programs, and providing professional
development programs abroad.
- Montana
PBS: Our recent partnership was with MT PBS and WETA of Washington,
DC for the critically acclaimed documentary A Force More Powerful: A
Century of Nonviolent Action.
- The
National Council Annual Conference: Join Council members from around
the country at the national conference on the foreign policy challenges for the next President in February 2008 in Washington, DC. Previous conferences have focused on Asia, Latin America, the UN and the Middle East.
Thank
you for your support.
